Biography
...yeah, it's all about me, that's why its called a Biography!

This area of the site is a virtual resume of my experience and background as a drummer, with various rock bands throughout Northeast PA.

Growing up in Hazleton, I started playing drums in maybe 3rd or 4th grade. I'm sure things were tight back then for my parents, as I recall practicing with a folding chair as a snare drum and a home made ride cymbal made from a 2x4 and a small piece of plywood. I guess there's something to be said for ingenuity!

I suspect my parents wanted to be sure I was dedicated before investing in my first drum set. (I hadn't heard the term drum kit until my late teens during an interview with Neil Pert of Rush) At any rate, my first set was a 5 piece Slingerland that got me through a myriad of basement projects, for sure!

Then, I saw it... one evening after a lesson at C & C Music Studios. I opened the shiny new, 1978 Pearl drums catalog. I couldn't help it! It was just lying there on the counter. I stopped flipping through it when I got to page 12 and my eyes nearly popped out of my head! I was amazed that Neil wasn't the only one who could play such a cool kit!

I'm not sure how I convinced my parents that I absolutely needed this kit, but within a few weeks, there it was! That was almost 25 years and quite a few bands ago... and while the hardware has been replaced with a Gibralter rack system, I continue to play this vintage Pearl kit with only a few changes!

Be sure to check out the links on the left for more information about the bands I've performed with, the band I'm trying build now, and my overall musical interests. Hi-res users can surf the extended content in the right hand menu, where you'll find among other things, a PDF download of the 1978 Pearl Catalog, which is now a collectors item.

Pearl has made this and several other catalogs, now considered collectibles, available as a downloadable PDF file.

Please note that if you are not using a cable or DSL connection, the download may take awhile as the file weighs in at a hefty 4.5MB! It's worth it though!
